House of Destiny - Recovery Healing Restoration
The Beginning of a Pearl

Mt. 13:45-46 “Again, the Kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls: Who, when he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it."

Normally when I’m sitting in my office, I look outside my window, and God begins to speak ...and I begin to write about what I see. So, technically I guess you could say, this article is From the Inside-Out.  As a woman came forward for to receive prayer at church, the thought came to me, “A Pearl of Great Price.” This thought, about the Pearl, came to me while I was sitting in church. Literally, it was like a movie being played out in my mind.  And so without hesitation, I began to think about what takes place in order for a pearl to be formed.  I thought about how women get to House of Destiny in the first place. I mean, after all, we are very remote to anywhere! Goodness, how did God figure all this out? It boggles my mind. How He decided to choose us is amazing in itself...in spite of the fact that we are such a small area.

Here is a little information I discovered in researching how pearls are formed and harvested:

* Pearls are formed in oysters as a response to an irritant, which enters when the shell valves are open for feeding or respiration.

* The oyster secretes a sticky substance around the object to protect the soft tissue to seal off the irritation.

* Layers of the nacre will coat the irritant and a pearl begins to be formed. It is buried deep in the oyster.

* Light reflected from the layers produces the iridescent color of the pearls.

* The pearls vary in color, depending upon the type of  oyster, and the type and depth of water.

* Pearls that are grown in warmer deeper water tend to be darker in color, are more rare and valuable.

And here it is that I see the Pearl of Great Price. God sees value in everyone. Women are no different than men when it comes to the value of a soul. However, I believe that life is definitely more difficult for women than it is for men. As some women become overwhelmed in the struggle of life, some of them choose to medicate their pain. Some of the self-medicating methods chosen by women is in the form of drugs, alcohol, prostitution, etc.  Drug addiction and abuse is the outcome most always. No one woman sets out to become entangled in addictions. Her greatest desire is to live a life of normalcy.

As I think about the beginning of a pearl, I see the oyster going to the depths of the ocean floor and feeding on the scum and trash.  The shell of the oyster is actually the protection of the defenseless oyster. It is very vulnerable. This too, is what
happens to women who become entangled in hurts, hang-ups, and habits that lead to an addictive lifestyle. Guilt and shame keep them in a state of denial of their problem. Then...here comes the development of the irritant. Perhaps they were molested, raped, exposed as a child to incest, raised in a dysfunctional family, neglected, etc.  As the source of the injury/irritant grows more painful, a woman puts up walls for self protection. Just as the oyster produces the sticky substance to self-heal itself, so do hurting women through various methods.

Year after year the irritant becomes solid and unyielding. The oyster learns how to cope with the burden of the irritant. Likewise do addictive women. They travel to the depths of sin, living in stagnant surroundings while feeding on dead things just in order to survive.

And here is where you, the supporters and prayer partners of this ministry,  make such an amazing difference. Not everyone can go “pearl searching.” But...you help equip those who can. From near and far, God sends out the search for the His PEARLS. Intercessory prayer plays such a major role in this search. Suddenly, a phone call comes in to HOD with someone crying out for help! Family members, co-workers, and many times it is the “Pearl” herself that is crying out for intervention. As the rescue call comes in, the Master Merchant plucks the woman from the murky waters and places her safely in the care of House of Destiny. Here she will have a safe place to heal.

Day after day, month after month, life slowly begins to return to the woman who has been rescued. Once again she begins to feel emotions return that once she had been stripped of. Tears of healing flow as she comes to the revelation of the depth of the love of God. She learns that God Himself gave His Son, Jesus Christ, as the ultimate price so that He could purchase this precious Pearl. She has become an absolute priceless beauty as she is polished and refined through the washing of the Word of God.

This Pearl now recognizes she has value and that a great price has been paid so that she can become free of the lifestyle of bondage. She is no longer trapped inside the shell that was designed for her protection. She is now free to begin her journey to a new life. Jeremiah 29:11-13, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall you call upon Me, and you shall go and pray unto Me, and I will hearken to you. And you shall seek Me, and find Me, when you shall search for Me with all your heart.”

How something emerges from something that was once so painful is a great mystery. The beauty of a pearl is its true great value. It has evolved into a much sought after commodity by craftsmen from all over the world. A pearl processor must cull through more than 10,000 pearls to find perfectly 47 pearls matched to be used for a 16 inch necklace, God will use the testimonies of these Pearls, that were birthed out of the depths of the darkest places imaginable, to tell of the hope that has become evident through their lives of survival and victory. What a loving Merchant our Father God is...oh, how deep...DEEP, is His love.
